Dr. Bill Beachy


Bill Beachy is a retired priest of the Episcopal Church who began his professional life as a physician. The son of a Baptist minister, he received his medical education at Louisiana State University School of Medicine. After an internship at US Army Lefterman General Hospital in San Francisco, California, he completed a three year Residency - Preceptorship in Internal Medicine at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri where he also served as chaplain from 1960 through 1986.

Graduation from Berkeley Divinity School in New Haven, Connecticut in 1956 was followed by ordination to the diaconate in June of that year and to the priesthood six months later. His position at that time was Vicar of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Moneft, Missouri.

Chaplain and Mrs. Beachy have three grown children and five grandchildren, and are active members of St. Paul's Church, Kansas City, Missouri. In the summer, their Church community is Church of the Redeemer, Rosseau, Ontario, Canada.

As Chaplain Emeritus of St. Luke's Hospital, Bill serves on the Ethical concerns Committee and is planning a project to help restore the spiritual aspect of healing to modern medical practice. He is available as a resource person for the Church Community, does some counseling, and is working to complete a book on healing.
