DeKalb junior AUTUMN BEACHY was 12th at the state meet, clocking in at 19:06.08. She has even loftier goals for 2008, coach Rowland Perez said.
“Autumn is going to come out of the gate real hard,” said Perez, whose team finished 13th at state. “She’s really put in a good summer. I think last year was a huge confidence booster for her to get 12th at state. She’s already talking about top 10, if not better, and breaking 18 minutes. She ran 18:30 last year in the first 5K for girls. For as small as she is, she’s one of the toughest girls I’ve ever had. She just does everything she’s supposed to and then some just to make sure she gets it done.
