MOUNT PLEASANT -- Jessi Beachey's basketball career was over.
After suffering through knee pain for seven years, the 6-foot-2 forward decided it was time to call it quits. High school ball, two seasons at Parkland (Ill.) Community College, enough was enough.
"I had really decided I wasn't going to play ball after last year. I was like, 'This is it,'" said Beachey. "We had made it to the national tournament. Good place to end on."
Fortunately for the Iowa Wesleyan College women's basketball team, Beachey is an impulsive person, and after visiting friend Jessica Young -- a member of the Tigers -- and participating in a scrimmage with the team, Beachey knew her career was not yet over.
