Melvin Beachy 1922 - 2010


Melvin Beachy, 87, of Anchorage, died the evening of Nov. 16, 2010, with his children by his side.
Melvin was born Dec. 31, 1922, in McMinnville, Ore., to William and Mary Beachy. He and his 12 siblings grew up on the family farm outside Sheridan, Ore. Melvin served in the U.S. Army from 1943 until his discharge in 1946.
Wherever he lived, Melvin was always an active member of the local Assembly of God. Steadfast members, he and Raydonna attended Calvary Assembly of God in Anchorage for many years until she passed away in July 2009.
Melvin is survived by his three children, Judy Veater, Terry Beachy and Charlene Francis, all of Anchorage; five grandchildren, Josh Francis, Crystal Francis, Chad Francis, Bethany Veater and Miles Veater, all of Anchorage; brothers, Glen Beachy of Creston, B.C., Canada and Norman Beachy of McMinnville, Ore.; as well as two sisters, Dorothy Wagler of Salem, Ore., and Sylvia Yoder of Springfield, Ore.
