Stoney Acres Woodworking, in Shipshewana, has the equipment and capabilities of a small, specialized lumber mill. The business, started in 1998 by the Lee and Lorene Beachy family, just began construction on a 9,000-square-foot addition that will expand the size of the facility to about 14,100 square feet.
Stoney Acres makes hardwood flooring from red oak, white oak, ash, hard maple, cherry, Brazilian cherry, poplar and pine, getting most of the wood from northeast Indiana, southeast Michigan and northwest Ohio.
“We would like to have it under roof and the doors on by the end of May,” said Lorene Beachy, who handles bookkeeping for Stoney Acres. Click for the complete aricle in the Greater Fort Wayne Business Weekly
