Laura Beachy Somerset PA.

Laura Beachy grew up in Somerset, Pa., seven miles from Shanksville, where United Airlines Flight 93 crashed. When her sixth-grade teacher turned on the television, Beachy, then 11, couldn’t believe the images were real. Her teacher broke down, evidence that they were. She remembers the early days, when people in Somerset County opened their homes, cooked dinners and held candles for the families of Flight 93. She remembers later years, when community leaders and politicians debated how to memorialize the site and the memories. “You will do anything for your neighbor,” said Beachy, 21, when asked what she remembers as an 11-year-old kid. “Even if you don’t know your neighbor.” Click for article By Teri Weaver / The Post Standard September 10, 2011,
