Monroe Beachy Sugarcreek Ohio

Last week, the Sugarcreek investor and former Scene cover boy pleaded guilty in federal court.
A judge will sentence him at the end of the month. The bummer for Beachy’s victims — many of them fellow Amish — is that there doesn’t appear to be any money left over from the scam to make things right. Beachy wasn’t out stockpiling roadsters, weekending in Cabo San Lucas, or gifting the lasses of Holmes County with botox injections. The money is apparently down the toilet. Regardless, Tobin says, the government will seek a judgment against the investor — just in case his jailhouse bingo career skyrockets. Jim Beechy Millersburg Council Member

"I am asking the residents of the village of Millersburg to consider voting yes for the income tax that is on the ballot," said Huebner. If it fails again in March, there will be no loose leaf pickup this fall nor will there be an annual cleanup day. Streets will not be paved, road cracks will not be sealed, storm sewers will be left unrepaired and storm cleanup will be impossible to handle with the village's current staff and deteriorating equipment, said Huebner. With no money to fund them, these cuts in services must occur if the voters would reject the income tax increase, said council member Jim Beechy. "If it comes down to the fact that we don't get an increase, then the measures that we're talking about become reality," he said. "We are going to end up doing what the citizens want, it's just that the job becomes so much harder without any money for the upkeep of the village."
