Sheldon Beachy Homer Alaska, Beachy Construction

Despite one of the slowest summers on record for new residential construction, builders remain optimistic about surviving a downturn in new home building. "Overall, it's definitely slower," said SHELDON BEACHY, vice president of Beachy Construction. "We're thankful for what's going on." Beachy Construction just finished a home in Sunset View Estates started last year. Carpenters worked last week on framing walls and excavators did dirt work for another home in the area. Beachy Construction also is doing some additions and remodels of existing homes and a large commercial job for a fish packing plant in Nelson Lagoon on the Bering Sea.
