Jon Beachy Coffee Shop New Look

Joshua Cup Coffee, 1090 Washington Ave., Macon, held a grand reopening Monday showcasing its new look and smell.
The popular downtown coffee shop only closed a total of three days and remained open for most of the remolding. Owner Jon Beachy said the remodeling was done to make the 10-year-old restaurant more like it used to be. About three-and-a half years ago, Joshua Cup expanded its offerings to include a lunch menu and more grill items. “Instead of coffee, it smelled like bacon on a grill.” he said. Krista Beechy Hiland Highschool Heydays

BERLIN OH -- The mantra at Hiland is "defense and rebounding wins championships. "With four state titles since 2000, (2000, 2005, '06 and '08), the Hawks should know what they are talking about. For years, Hiland has had a defensive stopper, a player coach Dave Schlabach would sic on the opposing team's top player and sit back and smile as his defender did her job, frustrating their opponent into submission. Lydia Miller and KRISTA BEECHY are two stoppers who quickly come to mind during the Hiland heydays, but many have relished the position over the years. Kathleen Beachy Memorial Library Calabasas Calif.

Open to the public on Feb. 25, the collection will include the Kathleen Beachy Memorial Library, which was previously located at Pierce College but was moved three years ago to its permanent Calabasas location.
“Kathleen Beachy, who used her influence and helped save the Leonis Adobe, left this collection for the Historical Society,” Mitchell said. The Beachy collection makes up a significant portion of the archives. However, there is also an abundance of other material, including newspapers such as the Agoura Valley News and Woodland Hills Reporter, long gone from circulation, that give vivid accounts of the people and local politics that were once the talk of the day. Tai Peachey Galesburg Guard

The Streaks finished just 10-of-37 from 3, but made several big ones when they needed them the most, and according to Peachey, that is really what ‘The System’ is all about.
“It’s not really a matter of making as many 3s as we can. If we shot a lot of 3s that’s awesome but it’s just a bonus of the system. The system is about playing hard, working hard and running hard and getting the offensive rebounds and the shots will eventually fall. That is what we did.” Click for article in The Registered-Mail Jan 14, 2011,

Galen Beachy Supervisor

Addison supervisors take challenges as they come. Addison--Township PA. Daily American, Wednesday January 5, 2011. Supervisors recently passed a budget with property taxes set at 3 mills. Tax rates have remained the same for at least 10 years and generate about $80,000 for the township, according to Supervisor GALEN BEACHY. Maintaining the township’s some 52 miles of roads on a limited budget is one of the supervisors’ biggest challenges, he said. “Our rule of thumb is that we make no specific plans until we see what happens with the weather,” Beachy said. Elmer N. Beachy Oil Well Maryland's First

October 20, 1949 "American Oil & Gas Historical Society"
The first commercially successful natural gas well in Maryland is drilled by the Cumberland Allegheny Gas Company in the town of Mountain Lake Park, Garrett County -- the westernmost county in the state. The Elmer N. Beachy well produces almost 500 Mcf of natural gas a day.
The wildcat discovery prompts a rush of competing companies and indiscriminate, high-density drilling (an average of nine wells per acre), which depletes the field. Twenty of 29 wells drilled within the town produce natural gas, but overall production from the field (7.5 miles by .75 miles) is minimal. By 1962 it becomes part of a storage area for the Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation. No oil has yet been found in Maryland. Click here for article.

Tiffany Beachy Wildlife Biologist

Star Exponent Culpeper VA.
Silenced by neglect and the changing landscapes of modern development, a handful of federal, state and local agencies are hoping to restore the sound of the bobwhite quail to the fields of Culpeper County and elsewhere in Virginia. Tiffany Beachy, another wildlife biologist involved in the program who’s based in Smithfield, said the quail initiative is designed to continue for as long as it takes to get the bird population back on track. She said officials recognized the quail’s decline in the 1990s, but that plans fell flat after funding dried up. In addition to encouraging less clean cutting, Beachy said landowners are also encouraged to plant different varieties of grasses that grown in more of a clump pattern, a form that provides ideal habitat for quail. Click here for article by Nate Delestine published January 01, 2011 Credit: Contrbuted photo, Michael J. Budd As part of an ongoing program to increase quail numbers in Virignia, officials encourage landowners to erect signs like this one identifying the area as a quail habitat buffer.
