GRANTSVILLE — The Grantsville Lions Club has pledged $500 to help support the relief efforts of Lions Clubs International Foundation in Haiti.
The club will match donations up to $500 from the community. Donations can be sent to Grantsville Lions Club, P.O. Box 450, Grantsville, MD 21536. Note “Haiti Earthquake Relief” on the check.
Within 24 hours, Lions worldwide pledged nearly $250,000 to the foundation to help support relief efforts. The foundation also awarded a $50,000 Major Catastrophe Grant to help provide for immediate needs for victims of the earthquake. Immediate relief efforts will center on providing water, food, medicine, tents and other essential needs.
