Diane Peachey Has a Point

Eli Beachy Museum Curator

Norwalk Refector, Eli Beachy, the Firelands Historical Society museum's curator, has vanished, society president Pat Mak said. The historical society chose Beachy over three other applicants in mid-September. Mak said that Beachy, who replaced the retiring Marilou Creary, was by far the best candidate.
Beachy stepped into the position in early October and enthusiastically talked about his new job with the Reflector.
He called the museum "Ohio's best kept secret" and said he'd just spread the word about the museum at the York Historical Society in Medina County. He also called himself the "cheerleader" for the Firelands Historical Museum and Norwalk.

Roger Beachy on Biotechnology

"One of the things that we think is important to do is to have regular reviews and updates of our strategies for regulating products of biotechnology," said Roger Beachy, a biotech crop supporter who was appointed last year as director of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture. "We want to look carefully to see that they are logical and science-based but still maintain the confidence of the consumer to ensure that the projects that are developed and released have the highest level of oversight," added Beachy. Cheap antifungal drug may fight cancer: study
"There is a fairly broad range of tumors in which this molecular cascade, called the Hedgehog pathway, plays an important role," Stanford's PHILLIP BEACHY, who worked on the study, said in a statement. The researchers looked at 2,400 different drugs in a so-called library of drugs that had either been tested in people or already approved by the Food and Drug Administration, looking at the mechanism of action. "It might be possible with two compounds to achieve a more potent block at even lower drug concentrations," said Beachy. "If so, it's possible that there is a population of patients that can be treated relatively soon." Click for more Washington (Reuters) (Editing by Vicki Allen) Mon, Apr 12 2010

Beachy Woodworking, Brinkhaven

Beachy Woodworking, an improbably named Amish furniture factory, lies 20 miles north of Gambier in the town of Brinkhaven on Holmes County Road 75. (I later found out that the "Beachy" refers to this particular community's association with the teachings of the 20th-century moderate pastor Moses M. Beachy.) Twice every year, on the last Saturdays of March and October, they host an on-the-spot breakfast buffet. Click here to read the rest of an interesting article By: Charlie Schneider, Keynon Collegian.
