Thanks to Lauren Beachy, Buckeyes on Top

The game, played at Ohio State’s Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium, pitted two teams that had never reached the College Cup against each other. In an evenly matched game, the Buckeyes were able to come out on top thanks to a 20th-minute penalty kick from senior defender LAUREN BEACHY and a 53rd-minute goal from sophomore forward Tiffany Cameron. Lauren Beachy


Ohio State defender Lauren Beachy's first collegiate goal was a historic one for the Buckeyes. Beachy connected on a penalty shot in the 21st minute of play for a game-winning shot that sent the OSU women's soccer team to its first Final Four appearance in program history after a 2-0 victory against Georgetown at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Tai Peachey Galesburg High School PA.


Three free throws from Tai Peachey sealed the victory the important victory with a game with No. 2 Springfield looming today. It was far from perfect, but the Galesburg High School girls basketball team made just enough shots, got just enough stops and made just enough plays to hold off East Peoria for a 67-58 win Friday night.

Melvin Beachy 1922 - 2010


Melvin Beachy, 87, of Anchorage, died the evening of Nov. 16, 2010, with his children by his side.
Melvin was born Dec. 31, 1922, in McMinnville, Ore., to William and Mary Beachy. He and his 12 siblings grew up on the family farm outside Sheridan, Ore. Melvin served in the U.S. Army from 1943 until his discharge in 1946.
Wherever he lived, Melvin was always an active member of the local Assembly of God. Steadfast members, he and Raydonna attended Calvary Assembly of God in Anchorage for many years until she passed away in July 2009.
Melvin is survived by his three children, Judy Veater, Terry Beachy and Charlene Francis, all of Anchorage; five grandchildren, Josh Francis, Crystal Francis, Chad Francis, Bethany Veater and Miles Veater, all of Anchorage; brothers, Glen Beachy of Creston, B.C., Canada and Norman Beachy of McMinnville, Ore.; as well as two sisters, Dorothy Wagler of Salem, Ore., and Sylvia Yoder of Springfield, Ore. Leo Beachy a Legend in Photography 1874 -1927


The annual fundraiser dinner for the Grantsville Community Museum was held Oct. 16 at the Grantsville Senior Center.
The museum now has 11 black and white reproductions of Leo Beachy postcards available for sale to the public in various sizes. Orders can be made at the museum or an order sheet can be sent by contacting Gerry Beachy at gbeachy@verizon.net. A DVD, “Leo Beachy’s Legacy” made by WQED Public TV in Pittsburgh is also available for sale. The TV station is now making a follow-up to the original production that will be shown in January.
