PIGEON — After serving the congregation of Pigeon River Mennonite Church for 16 years, Pastor Tom Beachy will embark on a new mission. He recently accepted the position of director of communications of the Rosedale Mennonite Missions in Rosedale, Ohio. The mission and Pigeon River Mennonite Church are both members of the Conservative Mennonite Conference.

“It’s been a great 16 years,” Beachy said. “We love the community, the Thumb and the lake. This is a great congregation and they have made our work a joy. “Pastoring has been really rewarding,” Beachy said. “It’s really an honor to work with a group of people like this.”

In his new position, Beachy and his wife will spend about 75 percent of their time traveling and visiting the 140 conference churches, he said. He may spend some time traveling internationally to mission fields as well, he added. “I will be speaking in churches every Sunday, but not as a pastor, as an encourager,” Beachy said. “I will tell stories of the missions and inspire people to give to a great cause.”
